Arrive in historic New Orleans style.
Surround yourself with seductive architectural detail and lush greenery.
Relax into our leisurely pace.
Completely restored to its original beauty with careful attention
to its Greek Revival style and detail, the McKendrick-Breaux House
is a quiet retreat located in New Orleans' historic Lower Garden
District. Built in 1865 by Daniel McKendrick, a wealthy plumber
and Scottish immigrant, it was a three-story masonry home on land
originally part of the Sarpy Plantation. Rescued and restored by
local preservationist Eddie Breaux, it is now an elegant gem that
has been operating for ten years in an area recently named "the
hippest neighborhood in North America" by Utne Reader Magazine.
The McKendrick-Breaux House features large and airy antique-furnished
guest rooms and double parlors decorated with works by local artists.
Galleries overlook the courtyard filled with tropical plants. And
spacious private baths and boudoirs feature 19th century claw-foot
tubs. Fresh flowers at your bedside, complimentary continental breakfasts
and all the modern creature comforts are just a few of the special
touches that will delight you. Please read more about our
amenities.
